Yego endorses Tusker’s #TwendeKazi campaign

Barely days after the new javelin world champion Julius Yego lashed out at Kenya Breweries Limited for using his name in an online flyer, the Kenyan athlete has now signed a contract and been named Tusker Lager’s brand ambassador.

Yego’s monstrous throw of 92.72m last month earned Kenya its first gold medal in field events at the just concluded IAAF World Championships.

This was a new African record and also the third best all-time throw in the history of the event.

A Tusker flyer was widely circulated on the internet before being pulled down after Yego blasted the giant beer manufactures on Facebook.

“This is wrong! am not doing branding on this (sic),” Yego wrote on Facebook at the time and attached the flyer which showed a silhouette of a male javelin thrower with the caption “YEGOLD!”.

In apparent change of attitude Yego has since tweeted: My name is Julius Yego World Javelin Champion, and I am #TeamKenya #TwendeKazi #TeamTusker.

EABL also posted photos of their union on their social media pages welcoming the javelin champion with the tweet, “We have a good reason to celebrate today as @juliusyegoke joins the fearless family #TeamKenya”

The YouTube athlete was all smiles as he signed the brand ambassadorship deal with the brewer.

The Tusker Larger team made the announcement on their official Facebook on Tuesday saying: “We have a good reason to celebrate today as Julius Yego joins the fearless family ‪#‎TeamKenya.”
