This woman’s caravan solved her rental woes

An Australian mother just found her unconventional solution to rising costs of living in Adelaide.

Tegan Latham bought a bus and renovated it into a caravan with living space for her and her two boys.

The mother and her two boys now have a mobile home with the current location being at a caravan park near her sons’ schools.

Ms Latham bought the bus for Sh2.89million ($28,000) and then spent another Sh724, 150 ($7,000) renovating it.

“The cost of living was just so stressful for me that I thought ‘I’ve just got to do something different, what else could there be? So my dad suggested a bus and I was like ‘really a bus?’ I looked into it more and the idea grew on me,” she told Australian news programme, Today Tonight.

HOUSING RENTS

Her sons have since loved living in the bus which she intends to drive around for family holidays.

“Ollie just said the other day, ‘I like the house mum but I really love the bus’. It kind of feels like you’re on holiday most of the time,” she added.

Perhaps Nairobians, have over the years been lamenting about the rising housing rents, could learn a thing or two from this mother.

In the meantime it remains to be seen whether Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko will deliver his campaign promise of working with landlords to lower the rates.
