A mother of three is admitted at Mama Lucy hospital with serious injuries after being waylaid and slashed by thugs on her way to work Tuesday morning.

Frida Atieno, 35 year-old, was walking along Kangundo road on her way to work when she was attacked.

A young man approached her and ordered her to hand over her bag.

But Ms Atieno, a former security officer, used her training to defend herself.

“That is when another man wielding a machete emerged and started slashing me with the panga. They overwhelmed me and ran off with my bag and mobile phone,” she told NairobiNews from her hospital bed.

This is the latest in a series of crime incidents that have lately been witnessed in the larger Embakasi area.
