Ms Wanyama also expressed her optimism that after the surgery she will be able to regain her health and redeem her self-esteem.

The mandibular surgery involved removal of the tumor and carry out reconstruction of the lower jaw.

According to Dr Vilembwa, such tumors are caused by remnants of developing teeth which are painless but grow progressively. The surgery can more than Sh300, 000.

She dropped out of school at a tender age due to stigma following enlarged tumor that disfigured her face.
