Woman killed in police, thugs crossfire

A 52 year old woman was shot dead in a crossfire between police and a gang of robbers in Industrial Area on Thursday.

The woman, Phoebe Nzimbi died alongside one of the suspects who was identified as Peter Chachuru along Likoni Road near BAT.

Police records indicate that officers on patrol got information about four armed suspects who were riding on two motorcycles.

“The police approached the group and challenged them to surrender but they sped off as they shot at officers,” the report indicates.

Police, the report indicates, returned fire and fatally shot the 41 year old suspect but the other three managed to escape using the motorcycles towards the Mukuru Kayaba slums.

STABBED BY FRIEND

“From the fatally injured suspect, officers recovered a Ceska Pistol with serial number A480305 that was loaded with two rounds of ammunition,” the report further states.

Another passerby, Joseph Ndambuki, 58, was also injured during the shootout and is admitted at the Mater Hospital.

In another incidence in Huruma, a man died after he was stabbed by his friend inside a house that he lived in with another friend.

Witnesses said Joseph Mutua arrived home drunk with a friend he kept referring to only as ‘Tom’ before a quarrel ensued between them.

Mutua allegedly picked a kitchen knife and stabbed him on the chest leaving him dead. Mr Mutua then allegedly escaped with the knife in his hands.

Police are yet to arrest the suspect as the body of his friend lies at the City Mortuary.
