Tragedy as woman flogs 13-year-old son to death

A 40-year-old woman in Trans Nzoia County was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly beating up her 13-year-old son to death.

Janet Indimuli, allegedly beat up her son, Meshack Nangile, at Kapkoi sisal village in Waitaluk location within Trans Nzoia with firewood stick for failing to return home early after being sent to a shop.

According to Julius Wamalwa Makhoha, a neighbour, the mother was seen thoroughly spanking her son at about 9pm on Monday.

“She first slapped him then picked one of the firewood sticks and started beating him mercilessly,” Makhoha told the Nation.

The deceased is reported to have gone to bed with a swollen body only to be found dead the following morning.

FOUND DEAD

The mother admitted to the police that she indeed flogged the child to discipline him.

She claimed that her deceased son has a habit of leaving home without permission and always coming back late.

Trans Nzoia county police Commander, Samson Ole Kine, confirmed the incident adding that the deceased’s body had bruises on the feet and hands.

“He was found dead in his bed in the morning after he failed to wake up as usual. The body has been moved to Cherangany Nursing Mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.

The deceased’s mother is being held in custody as the police investigate the matter.
