Woman arrested over her sister’s brutal murder

A woman suspected to have participated in the killing of her sister in Bosnia area, Passenga in Nyandarua County a month ago has been arrested.

Nyandarua Central officer commanding police division (OCPD) Wilson Kosgei said police have been trailing the suspect since the killing took place.

Sources said the suspect was tracked from her Embu hideout, before detectives arrested her in Embakasi area in Nairobi.

“We have been liaising with our colleagues in Nairobi and I have sent officers to bring her back to the Ol Kalou police station,” said Mr Kosgei.

Her 40-year-old sister was hacked to death following a land row with her siblings and her body dumped in a thicket in Bahati area, Nakuru County.

LAND TUSSLE

The killing was attributed to a protracted land tussle between the family members, with the slain woman having been bequeathed sole administrative rights by their late father.

Some of her family members were said to have been opposed to the sub division of the 16-acre land which was supposed to be divided among two families.

The slain sister maintained her position that the vast land be subdivided among the two families, but her siblings voiced their displeasure over the subdivision plan.

One of her step-brothers was informed of the killing by a mortuary attendant who called him on his mobile phone.

The arrested woman and her brother went into hiding but police have been tracking them down. Some of the family members have been arraigned in court charged with murder.
