A woman has been charged with robbing a boda boda operator of his motorbike while armed with a gun and seriously wounding him.

Police Prosecutor Leonard Kurgat yesterday accused Ms Hellen Wanjie Mwangi of being the leader of a gang of five that is alleged to have robbed Mr Francis Ndung’u  Njau of his motorbike valued at Sh85,000, a mobile phone and Sh2,000 on February 6 in Kasarani.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kurgat said Ms Mwangi asked Njau to take her to Ngawaye.

Upon arriving, the accused removed a gun from her bag and threatened Ndung’u, before four men emerged from nowhere and started beating Ndung’u with metal bars.

They then allegedly robbed him and disappeared with his motorbike, leaving him unconscious.

Mr Njau was helped by well-wishers to reach  Kasarani Police Station where he reported the matter. Police later tracked and arrested the accused.

Ms Mwangi denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Okello and was released on a Sh300,000 cash bail pending hearing will be on  May 30.
