Police: This is why we teargased family house in Komarock

The police have explained the circumstances under which a house in Komarock was tear gased on Sunday following a call from a neighbor complaining of loud music.

According to Kayole OCPD, Joseph Gichangi, a commotion ensued when one of the occupants of the house bit the hand of one of the police officers resulting into a fight.

The other occupants, upon seeing this, started throwing all manner of objects, including glasses, at the police who were outside the house.

One of the officers then lobbed a tear gas canister into the house to stop the situation from deteriorating.

UNDER INVESTIGATIONS

The police boss said the reason why the officers had teargas canisters was because they had been detoured from manning a polling station in the area – following the neighbor’s phone call – during the countrywide party nominations that ended on May 2.

“I can confirm that a tear gas canister was used and this is because one of the officers saw that it was the only way for him to stop the commotion,” says Mr Gichangi.

“Every situation is dealt with the way it comes,” he added.

A complaint has been made on the use of tear gas and the matter is under investigation.

Among those affected during the incident were children, who were sleeping, and a pregnant woman, who was among the invited guests, although none of them was injured.
