Why Kenyans are so mad at Jeff Koinange


KTN’s Jeff Koinange on Wednesday faced the wrath of Kenyans on Twitter after he hosted the exonerated Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Isaack Hassan on his show.

Mr Hassan who was on Tuesday exonerated by the  Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)  from corruption allegations in the Chickengate scandal vowed to stay put during the show amid calls for his resignation.

The hashtag #BoycottJKL became popular before and during the Wednesday talk show as tweeps accused Mr Koinange of giving Mr Hassan a platform to clear his name despite the corruption allegations.

The host, who often reads out the online reactions during the show, opted to join in and beat his critics in the game.

At the end of the show Mr Koinange’s crew shot a video of him leaving the set along with his infamous fire extinguisher stating that he too had boycotted his own show.

The reaction gave the hashtag more power as it trended for hours through to Thursday.

The KTN production team too joined in the trend making fun of how they too would not produce the show.
