January 10th, 2014 1 min read

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula escaped death narrowly after his car was shot at along Mbagathi Way late Thursday evening.

The senator had just arrived in the city from Mombasa and was on his way home to Karen from JKIA when the incident occurred near the Mbagathi roundabout. Travelling with him was his driver and an aide when two shots rang out from a car that had been parked across the road, shattering the windscreen and grazing the roof.

The three occupants were unhurt in the incident.

Wetangula proceeded to Kilimani police station where he recorded a statement terming the incident as an assassination attempt.

“This was clearly an assassination attempt and I hope the police treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves,” he said.

He was accompanied by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
