Two police officers who were injured during the Westgate terrorists attack have been discharged from hospital.

One of them, a General Service Unit officer who had been shot in his left arm was discharged a week ago, but the plain clothed officer, pictured, who had been shot in the stomach was discharged last week on Friday.

Police Spokesperson, Gatiria Mboroki said the officer had been admitted in Aga Khan Hospital for the last three weeks.

“He was discharged. Officers keep checking on him in shifts to ensure that he is doing well and that he is safe,” Ms Mboroki said.

The officer was among the first group of policemen to arrive at the scene of attack and collaborated with other licensed gun holders to fight the terrorists initially believed to be robbers.

A week ago, four other police officers who appeared in several photos in local and international press were feted.
