Were Cord MPs assaulted by weapon-weilding Jubilee counterparts?

Cord MPs have accused their Jubilee counterparts of intimidation during Thursday’s stormy special sitting in parliament for the proposed amendments to Elections Act.

In a press briefing called by Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula flanked by all opposition leaning MPs, the Leader of Minority in the Senate said MPs Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Irshad Sumra (Embakasi South) and James Nyakal (Seme) were assaulted during the Thursday special sitting.

“One of our members Irshad Sumra is right here with a bloody face, he was attacked and hit by an MP called Aburi. Nyikal walking in, has been assaulted. Gladys Wanga, has been a victim of assault. Our members have harrowing stories coming from the chamber where members are carrying guns into the chamber,” said Wetangula during the briefing.

UNREASONABLE FORCE

The senator added that on Tuesday, Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi sprayed Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma’s face with an unknown chemical.

Wetangula said that the opposition had insider information on issues discussed during the Jubilee MPs meeting.

“Members of Jubilee were instructed to use the most unreasonable and lethal means and unreasonable force against our members. One leader even told target Gladys Wanga, vunja shingo, target Millie Odhiambo, vunja mguu and so on and so forth,” said Wetangula.
