Welcome to Uhuru Park, Nairobi’s low cost love nest – PHOTOS

Are you on the lookout for a zero cost, quiet location for a date? Then look no further than Nairobi’s Uhuru Park and the adjacent Central Park.

Located on the fringes of the capital’s CBD, the 13 hectare recreational park still maintains that historic lustre associated with it over its three decade existence.

It is mostly renowned to Kenyans as the venue for gatherings such as political rallies, public holiday meetings, and presidential swearing ins.

To another majority though, the venue is – at least on an ordinary day – a venue to wind down time and relax. Especially for love birds.

Nairobi News counted dozens of lovebirds hanging around the venue on Friday. The couples seemed in a good mood, chatting and giggling in low tones.

One couple we talked to confirmed they had no budget for their outing.

“We just came to talk and discuss about us, the future and our expectations. We needed time for ourselves just the two of us,” said Maxwell Maina, a taxi driver.

Besides the acres of well kempt grass to relax on, the venue also has a water stream where lovers can take a board ride for of Sh100.

Hawkers also surround the place selling beverages and snacks. There also exists a public toilet therein.

The park also has picnic area during weekends or public holidays.
