We don’t need speed governors in the city
No doubt there is need to bring sanity in the matatu industry but I think NTSA could have done better.
For instance, speed governors can only be installed on vehicles on highways out of towns. Many of the PSVs in major towns have their speeds already limited by unending traffic jams, plus we have a number of tired jalopies that hardly make 70kph (anyone who has used Muthurwa -Lunga Lunga matatus knows this). It does not make sense to put a 80km/h speed limit on all categories of matatus.
