Wanyama linked to Chelsea move as Matic replacement
Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has been linked with a sensational big money move to English Premier League champions Chelsea, this is according to reports on goal.com.
Chelsea are all set to sell defensive midfielder Nemaja Matic to Manchester United this week, and Wanyama has been earmarked among five midfielders that are likely to replace the Serbian when he departs.
“Admittedly, it’s hard to see the Kenya international move across London after just one impressive season in Tottenham Hotspur. However, stranger things have happened in the wild world of football transfers. Big Vic would be an ideal Matic replacement and the prospect of weakening title rivals Spurs may also appeal. Other players linked with Chelsea alongside Wanyama include Nice midfielder Jean Michel Seri, Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi, Ghana anchorman Kwado Asamoah and Leipzig’s Naby Keita.
The English Premier League’s transfer window officially opens on July 1 and will shut on August 31.
Wanyama, meanwhile, is still in Kenya on holiday, but is expected to return for pre-season training with Tottenham in the first week of January.
