Wanyama in Fiorentina’s radar

Italian club Fiorentina is the latest European club to show interest in acquiring the services of Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama has been earning rave reviews this season, following consistent performances for his club Southampton, who are currently placed third in the English Premier League table.

These performances have since generated interest for Wanyama from EPL top guns such as Arsenal, Machester United and Liverpool, but Nairobi News understands that only Fiorentina has reached out to the player’s representatives with a view to discussing a deal in recent weeks.

“Victor is aware of this (Fiorentina) interest, and he has even spoken to his brother MacDonald Mariga who is based in Italy. But am not sure something can be worked out in January because we all know it is entirely not up to him,” a close family member told Nairobi News.

Wanyama, who is currently injured, has three years remaining on his contract with the Saints, who are s certain to demand a fee in the region of 25 million pounds (Sh 4 billion) in exchange for his services.
