Wanga leaves options open after failed South Africa move

Harambee Stars striker Allan Wanga has attracted the interest of clubs in Tanzania, Zambia and Congo after his proposed move to South Africa fell through.

The former AFC Leopards forward was set to join South African side Bidvest Wits last week, but the move has since been complicated by a delay in acquiring a work permit.

“Everything went on well at Wits and I even scored in a build up game over there. The coach liked me, but I didn’t want to take my chances and remain in South Africa without getting involved in competitive action. But I am willing to return if the situation changes,” Wanga told Nairobi News.

This development has attracted the attention of several clubs that are keen to acquire the player’s services.

Nairobi News understands top Tanzanian clubs Azam FC and Simba SC, alongside Zesco United and Power Dynamos of  Zambia and AS Vita in the Democratic Republic of Congo have all asked to be informed of the player’s status and terms.

Wanga is Kenya’s lead striker at the moment. He just has finished a year long deal in at top Sudan club El Merreikh.

The 28 year old scored the winning goal for El Merreikh in last season’s Cecafa club championship staged in Rwanda.

He was also twice on the mark for Kenya in the 2-0 win over Sudan during the finals of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in 2013.

He has previously won titles in Angola, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Kenya and Sudan leagues.
