Waititu’s hate speech suit postponed
An incitement to violence case against former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu will now be heard in March 3 next year.
The case had been fixed for hearing on Wednesday but the prosecution counsel was not present.
Mr Waititu allegedly uttered words that were calculated to bring violence to members of the Maasai community living and working in Kayole.
The former MP also allegedly, while addressing members of the public, uttered words that were calculated to stir ethnic hatred.
The offences are alleged to have been committed on September 24 last year at Kayole area Nairobi.
Mr Waititu at a past news conference at the court precinct’s said he had apologized to the Maasai community.
During a previous mention, the prosecution was not opposed to Mr Waititu seeking an out of court settlement.
Through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, the former MP said he had met the complainants and have discussed the matter at length.
“They are in the process of resolving the issue, he has spoken to the members of the Maasai community and elders,” Mr Ombeta had told the court.
