Waititu appointed Athi water board chair

Former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu’s fortunes appear to be on the mend after President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him chairman of Athi Water Services Board.

Mr Waititu lost to Dr Evans Kidero in the race to be Nairobi’s governor last year.

He replaces former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo at the board.

In Gazette Notice No. 115 dated 10th January 2014, President Kenyatta, through environmental cabinet secretary Judy Wakhungu, revoked the appointment of Mr Ndolo and appointed Mr Waititu to serve in the board for a period of three years.

The appointment was made the same day Mr Waititu’s lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui filed an appeal challenging Justice Richard Mwongo’s judgment that dismissed an earlier petition by the former law maker to have Governor Kidero’s victory quashed.

The same Thursday, Mr Waititu had paid Governor Kidero  a courtesy call at City Hall.

The appointment Mr Kenyatta’s reward an ally who lost in the last general election.
