Wait for my side of the story – Babu Owino

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has asked Kenyans to be patient and wait for his side of the story over a shooting incident at B Club before jumping into conclusion.

In a tweet, Mr Owino said that he would share his side of the story once he is out of the Industrial Area prison where he is remanded.

He said this after a Nairobi court on Monday ordered that he is remanded for seven more days.

“I urge Kenyans to wait for my side of the story of what happened when I come from my new home at Industrial Area prison. I also need justice and it must be served to me. Meanwhile, these are occupational hazards,” he stated in the post.

Legally, Mr Owino should wait to prove his innocence in a court of law.

Mr Owino is accused of shooting Mr Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve and critically injuring him.

In a video making rounds on social media that was captured by CCTV footage in the club, Mr Owino is seen firing at the DJ who is now admitted at Nairobi Hospital.

Babu appeared before chief magistrate Francis Andayi on Monday and denied all charges against him.

The prosecution opposed his release on bail or bond, saying he is likely to interfere with witnesses since he is an influential man.

The court ordered that a bail report be filed by the probation department within seven days.

The court will rule on whether he will be granted bail on January 27.
