Volleyball coach Lung’aho survives road accident

Kenya Volleyball Federation’s technical director David Lung’aho survived a road accident at the infamous Sachangwan black spot along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred when Lung’aho’s Nissan saloon was hit on the driver’s side by an oncoming lorry that was transporting logs.

Lung’aho, who doubles up as head coach of top flight club Kenya Prisons, was travelling with his assistant Paul Muthinja to Kapsabet for the final leg of the volleyball league.

“The lorry was going to kill me.” Lung’aho recounted the incident to Nairobi News. “I was on the climbing lane when I suddenly noticed that the driver of an oncoming lorry had lost control of the vehicle. The lorry hit a van first before veering to my side of the road and hitting me badly.”

The damaged vehicles were towed to the nearby Salgaa Police Station. Lung’aho, who was unhurt in the incident, is expected to take charge of the Kenya Prisons team in league matches at Kapsabet.
