Vitimbi actor Ojwang Hatari battles failing eyesight
Legendary Kenyan actor Benson Wanjau, popular for his Mzee Ojwang Hatari character in the television series Vitimbi, was on Wednesday taken to Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho to treat his failing eyesight.
The hospital confirmed to Nairobi News that the actor was at the hospital where he was treated and discharged, but could not disclose more information.
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, whose Sonko Rescue Team took the actor to the hospital, said Mzee Ojwang was suffering from partial blindness.
“Sonko Rescue Team, California MCA Mheshimiwa Hashim and I joined hands together, visited him at his home and transported him to Loresho Hospital to see an ophthalmologist,” he stated.
Mzee Ojwang has been in the film industry for decades and has inspired many upcoming actors.
The Vitimbi series was aired by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation for decades until early this year when it moved to Dstv’s Maisha Magic Channel.
