Veteran journalist David Makali leaves IEBC role over ‘conflict of interest’

Veteran journalist, David Makali, has terminated the consultancy services that he has been offering to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

IEBC communication manager Andrew Limo said Mr Makali has been working with the IEBC as a communication adviser and has terminated his engagement following “a mutual agreement between Mr Makali and IEBC that considered his other engagements that may be perceived as conflict of interest in relation to the mandate of the Commission”.

“The Commission appreciates Mr Makali’s professional contribution and wishes him all the best in his new endeavors,” said Limo in a statement.

Mr Makali is an analyst for a political weekly show at Citizen TV and has vied for an elective seat on an independent ticket.
