University of Nairobi to reopen starting next week

The University of Nairobi is set to reopen next week for all students who were in session before the recent closure of the institution.

Fifth year medical students will reopen on Monday April 25, while the rest of the students will report on Tuesday May 3.

Students who were on long holiday at the time of the strike will however wait longer.

The reopening dates were announced on Thursday in a notice to all students on the university’s website.

All students will be required to clear all their fee balances.

“All students reporting back on April 25, 2016 and May 3, 2016 should ensure that they have cleared their fee balances and that they are registered in the Students Management Information System (SMIS),” read the notice in part.

The announcement did not however cover the details of any damage fees to be surcharged from the recent riot that left property of unknown value destroyed.

The institution is also set to give a report of the just concluded appearances of over 200 suspended students, among them chairmanship candidate Mike Jacobs, before the disciplinary panel.
