University remains mum over student’s death

Tests were carried out to establish the cause of the death of Kenyatta University First year student Moreen Chepkemei.

The postmortem examination was conducted on Tuesday, three days after her sudden death that has left the student fraternity worried.

The university has maintained silence over the matter, apart from saying that ongoing investigations must be allowed to run their course.

The office of the Dean of Students, responsible for student welfare has released a statement  to explain the death

However, a source in the administration said more samples were taken to Kenya Medical Research Institute to further tests.

Ms Chepkemei died under mysterious circumstances on Saturday morning after a night of partying with friends where she was reported to have complained of a headache.

A friend reportedly took her to get medication for the pain, but she later developed complications and died as friends took her to the university hospital.
