Ulinzi lands co-sponsorship deal with UAP Insurance

Kenyan Premier League side Ulinzi Stars has secured a co-sponsorship deal with insurance company, UAP Insurance.

The deal, expected to be signed on Friday afternoon in Nakuru, will cover the remainder of the season. However, the exact amount of the sponsorship deal has not been disclosed.

“We are happy to bring UAP on board and as a team we are proud of the new partnership. Of course this will help us a lot in terms of morale boosting as the team fights for the league title this year. The players now don’t have a reason not to perform,” Ulinzi Stars chairman Col JS Mwinyikai said.

Just last year, Ulinzi signed a major sponsorship deal with South African based petroleum company Engen for a three year period.

SPONSORSHIP DEAL

In 2012 as well, Ulinzi had a six month sponsorship deal with another insurance firm Metropolitan health.

“This is just the beginning of the partnership and we expect it to be bigger and better next year,” Mwinyikai added.

Since winning the league title in 2010, Ulinzi have struggled to replicate the same form, slipping down every season.

Last season however, they showed glimpses of their former selves, with coach Robert Matano guiding them to a fourth place finish.

The team is expected to challenge for the premier league crown this year and are currently placed 5th on the standings, ten points behind leaders Gor Mahia but with a match in hand.
