Uhuru’s niece loses terribly in Kiambu primaries

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece was among political top dogs that were rejected by voters in the just concluded Jubilee Party primaries.

Anna Nyokabi, the incumbent Kiambu Woman Representative, was embarrassingly floored by radio journalist Gathoni Wamuchomba who garnered a whopping 374,306 votes.

Ms Nyokabi’s managed a measly 26,768 votes. With Kiambu being Mr Kenyatta’s bedrock, pundits consider the race on August 8 as good as done in favour of Ms Wamuchomba.

RESOUNDING DEFEAT

Ms Nyokabi was among four MPs who were kicked out in the Jubilee Party nominations in Kiambu.

Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo lost to businessman N’gan’ga Kin’gara while Limuru’s John Kiragu lost the ticket to former MP Peter Mwathi.

MP Njoroge Baiya, an active participant in the National Assembly debates, lost to newcomer Kago Wa Lydia.

The biggest upset was Kiambu Governor William Kabogo’s resounding defeat to Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu.
