Uhuru snatches Kanze Dena from Citizen TV for State House job

President Uhuru Kenyatta has raided Citizen TV to acquire top talent for his press team in his second term.

The president has appointed Citizen TV’s Swahili anchor Kanze Dena as his deputy State House spokesperson and deputy head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).

In her new role, Ms Dena will be in charge of leading the core communications teams, including digital, messaging, research, branding and press.

“With expansive newsroom leadership experience, Ms. Dena has been tasked to focus on the President’s brand positioning, media relations and messaging with respect to the delivery the Big Four agenda,” a statement from State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said.

Former KTN senior reporter Munira Mohamed has also been elevated to the position of deputy head of PSCU and head of the presidential library.

The Presidential Library, Museum and Exhibition Centre is meant to “safeguard and preserve the work and words of our nation’s leaders.”

Ms Mohamed will also be in charge of all broadcast and media production.

The changes are part of President Kenyatta’s efforts to strengthen the quality and reach of communications.

“The President believes the two women leaders will bring diversity , dynamism and infuse new energy in to the PSCU whilst improving overall media relations with external stakeholders,” Mr Esipisu said.
