Uhuru dishes out Sh2m to students who had awaited him for hours
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday dished out Sh2 million to students at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic to atone for keeping them waiting for long.
“I delayed because I was out seeking Kenyans’ votes.
“I know some of you have not eaten anything the whole day and others will not arrive home early because I have made you wait. Don’t worry I am giving the principal Sh2 million so that you get sorted,” President Kenyatta told the students.
Mr Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were at the polytechnic in Mombasa to flag off the first batch of equipment under the Kenya-China TVET project.
The Sh16.7 billion project is a program to enhance vocational and technical training in order to equip Kenyans with skills to create employment for themselves.
He said that although vocational training is the best way to prepare youth for the future, students should also learn history and other subjects.
The project will equip 134 technical training institutes in all constituencies in Kenya.
