Uhuru, Ruto Eulogize Kituyi’s son

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto joined thousands of Kenyans and other leaders to eulogize Makari Kituyi as a bold and courageous young man.

Mr Makari is the son of Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

He was the head of head of TV at Radio Africa Group and died last weekend.

President Kenyatta in his message read by Water and Irrigation Minister Eugene Wamalwa, at a Requiem mass at St. Austin’s Church, Lavington, Nairobi, said Makari was a promising young man.

The President said: “As a family, we are deeply saddened by the death of Makari.”

He said the Government would assist the family of the former Trade Minister with funeral arrangements.

Mr Ruto said Makari was humble enough to seek employment and at the same time ambitious to be an entrepreneur.

MOVING TESTIMONIES

He said Makari represented the generation of youth in the country who were able to take challenges to improve their country.

Family, friends and other leaders made moving testimonies of Makari’s life.

The deceased’s grieving wife, Bahati Kituyi, described Makari as a loving husband, friend, leader and father to her two children while his brother, Sitati, recalled the fine times they had as siblings.

Dr. Kituyi thanked those who stood with the family during the demise of his son whom he described as courageous, determined and a go-getter.

Present were members of the diplomatic corps, Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, Several Members of Parliament including Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula, Mutahi Kagwe, Bonny Khalwale, George Khaniri, Chris Wamalwa, David Were, and Ferdinand Wanyonyi.

Media personalities including the Founder and CEO of Radio Africa Group Patrick Quarcoo, also attended.
