Uhuru receives honorary doctorate, Ruto to wait longer for his Ph.D

Deputy President William Ruto, who was set to graduate on Friday at University of Nairobi with a doctorate degree, will now have to wait until next year.

The name of Mr Ruto is missing on the graduation list despite his promise in June this year that he would graduate in December.

The Deputy President confirmed as much on his Twitter handle on Thursday saying that he will not graduate because of requirement.

But as the DP misses out on his doctorate, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to receive a honorary doctorate degree from the institution.

However, Kimuyu Maingi and Njeru Mugambi who also studies plant ecology like the DP will graduate with doctorate degrees in the School of Biological Sciences.

MASTERS DEGREE

During the graduation, a total of 53students will be awarded with doctorate of philosophy degrees.

Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka will also graduate with a Masters Degree in law.

Mr Ruto’s doctorate thesis is centered on The Impact of Human Activity on Riparian Reserves at Saiwa Swamp in Trans Nzoia County.

“I’ve finished the data collection and analysis. Now I’m on the write-up,” the deputy president told the Nation in June.

On Friday, 474 students will get diploma’s, 4,946 will get bachelors degree, 2316 will get masters  and  one will get  honorary.
