Uhuru nemesis Joho poised to retain Mombasa seat


Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho maintains the lead in the highly contested seat at the coastal city, beating his political rivals Suleiman Shahbal (Jubilee) and Hassan Omar (Wiper).

According to provisional results provided by IEBC at 2pm Wednesday, Joho was leading with 202,308 votes followed by Shahbal with 63,592 votes and Omar trailing behind with 39,962 votes.

However, not all polling stations have submitted their results for the governor seat.

In the Senatorial seat former Member of Parliament for Jomvu constituency Mohammed Faki maintained an early lead with 149,205 votes followed closely by former Mombasa deputy Governor Hazel Katana with 65,453 votes.
