Uhuru to foot bills for people injured by his motorcade

President Uhuru Kenyatta will foot the bills of accident victims who were injured after a police vehicle clearing traffic for his motorcade collided with a 14-seater matatu in Kisii County on Monday.

Kisii Senator governorship candidate Chris Obure, who delivered the President’s goodwill message to the families of the injured, said the Presidency would take up the cost of their medical treatment.

“The president has promised to clear the hospital bills of the victims and he wishes the victims quick recovery,” said senator Obure.

COLLIDED HEAD-ON

Mr Obure was speaking at Christamarian Hospital in Kisii County where he was accompanied by Charles Nyachae who is eyeing the Kisii senatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket.

The police vehicle was leading the president’s convoy back to Suneka airstrip when it collided head-on with the Matatu that, according to the police, was taking a U-turn in the middle of the road.

The President and his deputy William Ruto were forced to make a stop at the scene until all the victims had been rushed to the hospital.

They were heading to another rally in Bomet when the accident occurred at Gesonso outside Mount Kenya University campus in Kisii town.
