UB40 fans set for treat in major Nairobi concert

Fans of the popular reggae band UB40 are set for a treat in a major concert to be held at Safari Park.

Songs of UB40 will be played by tribute band “Rats in the Kitchen” on April 2, 2016 in the legacy concert.

A tribute band is a musical group dedicated to performing the music of one particular group, usually a very famous one.

This will be the first time the band is coming to Africa. The band is expected in the country next Tuesday.

The original UB40 band members broke up in January 2008 when frontman Ali Campbel left the band, followed shortly thereafter by keyboardist Mickey Virtue.

There is an ongoing case in a court in Birmingham, England, over the rights of the name.

The “Rats in the Kitchen” band was formed in 1998 and has been performing UB40 songs in concerts around the world.

The band consists of eight members, just like the original UB40, and was recently awarded the best UB40 tribute band title.

Kenya’s finest DJ Nijo will be on the decks during the Nairobi concert.

The tribute is an event organised by Henderson Events Africa.

Tickets will be going for as much as Sh 12,000 for VVIP, while VIPs will part with Sh 5,000. Regular tickets will be sold at Sh 4,000.
