Tuskys ‘Beba Beba’ branch calls it a day after 11 years

Tuskys Supermarket has closed one of its branches within Nairobi’s CBD – Tuskys Beba Beba – located along Tom Mboya Street following an eviction order from a new landlord.

The closure takes effect from Tuesday, May 2, 2017, the retail chain announced in a newspaper advert.

The Bank of Baroda, who has been the supermarket’s landlord for 11 years, has sold the property to a new owner who intends to re-develop the space.

Hence Tuskys were handed the notice to vacate the premises.

CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES

“The interests and convenience of our customers is paramount in our actions. We have put measures in place to accommodate our Beba Beba customers in our other CBD branches. We shall keep you informed on our plans to re-open the Beba Beba branch in a new location,” the newspaper advert read in part.

The supermarket thanked all their customers at the effected branch and pledged to accommodate them at other CBD branches.

Tuskys also gave an assurance to the 104 employees at Tuskys Beba Beba that they will be absorbed in other branches.

“We thank you for your continued support since Tuskys Beba Beba on Tom Mboya Street was opened 11 years ago,” the advert further read.
