Tusker, Sofapaka to face off in Top 8 first round

KPL Top 8 tournament defending champions Tusker will tackle Sofapaka in one of the stand out draw of this year’s tournament.

In the draw made on Wednesday morning, Gor Mahia were paired against  Thika United, while  AFC Leopards will take on Bandari.

Bandari are making their debut in the competition.

KCB  take on out of form Ulinzi Stars.

The games kick off next month, with the final set to be played on June 14 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Speaking while making the draw, Kenyan Premier League Company CEO Jack Oguda said that the aim of the competition is to raise funds for the KPL Under 19 tournament which will be held in August.

“We are hoping to raise funds so as to sponsor the event that will showcase the talent of our youths,” Mr Oguda said.

He also confirmed that the matches will be spread across the counties including Machakos and Kisumu.

The winner of the event will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Sh1 million.
