Tragedy as woman is murdered after rape, child left to suckle lifeless body
A body of a woman was on Thursday found lying in a thicket at Kibuka village in Tharaka-Nithi County in a suspected case of rape and murder.
A child was also found suckling the lifeless body.
Kibuka assistant chief Mathew Kabira, said the incident was reported by a resident, Mr Stephen Kinyua who was walking along the Skylimit road when he heard a child-cry from a nearby bush.

“On checking, he found a naked body of a female adult and a child suckling,” Mr Kabira said.
He said the body was later identified to be of Ms Purity Kathomo, 20, from Tunyai village, who was married in the area.
According to a report by police, the deceased might have been raped and killed elsewhere before her was dumped in the thicket. The victim’s clothes were also missing.
The body was moved to Chuka County Referral Hospital mortuary. Investigations have been launched on the matter.
