Trader out to stop Aladwa from taking new office

A businessman has gone to court seeking to have the appointment of Mr George Aladwa as the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company chairman quashed.

Mr Balkrishna Ramji claimed Mr Aladwa lacks integrity, having obtained Sh10 million from him and his wife by false pretences between July and August 2011.

He said that despite having admitted to obtaining Sh10 million, Mr Aladwa failed to refund a balance of Sh6 million.

No title deeds

He further said that the former mayor offered for sale parcels of land at Karen, Westlands and Mombasa Road for which he did not have title deeds.

Together with a firm, Pelican Signs, Mr Ramji has sued Governor Kidero, NCWSC and the Attorney General. Mr Aladwa is named as an interested party.

“The petitioners have reason to believe that Mr Aladwa lacks integrity and it is therefore unconstitutional for him to hold such office,” read part of the grounds in support of the application.

The case will be mentioned for directions on April 3.
