Thugs raid bus

Six armed men hijacked a Kawangware-bound Kenya Bus Service bus and robbed passengers of more than Sh100,000 on Wednesday night.

The gangsters boarded the bus at the Kencom terminus in the central business district at around 11.30pm, and hijacked the bus when the driver stopped to pick up passengers at Hurlingham.

Abandoned

Three of the hijackers stood guard while armed with pistols as the others robbed money, mobile phones and other valuables from the passengers.

They abandoned the bus at Amboseli in Kawangware, and fled on foot towards Gatina. No one was injured during the robbery.

The driver drove to Dagoretti Police Station where he and the conductor recorded statements.

Police Spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki said criminal gangs operated in cahoots with bus crews to rob passengers.
