Three armed gangsters shot dead in Tena Estate

Police on Friday morning shot and killed three heavily armed gangsters in Tena Estate, Nairobi.

According to Buruburu DCI Jeremiah Ikiao, the three were shot after being trailed by police from Kayole police station while driving a silver Toyota Axio.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Mr Ikiao said the officers alerted their colleagues who joined them to track the suspects.

“After pursuing them for a few meters, a shootout ensued and three male occupants were shot dead on the spot while one escaped,” said Mr Ikiao.

An AK 47 rifle, a Tokalev pistol, three bullets, a magazine, and motor vehicle number plate were recovered during the early morning operation.

He added that they are pursuing the suspect who escaped on foot during the shootout, and that the suspect is armed with another AK 47.

Among other things recovered from the suspects were several vehicle ignition keys, seven motor vehicle switches and four mobile phones.

“The gang are believed to be behind motor vehicle thefts and robberies within the city and its environs,” he said.

The bodies were taken to the City Mortuary for identification and autopsy.
