As the world prepares to welcome the new US President, Donald Trump’s family will inevitably be thrust into the limelight.
Already branded a dysfunctional First-Family, Donald Trump’s family life is as controversial as his campaign was.
Father to five children from three different marriages, and a current wife who doesn’t in any way bear the class, sophistication and poise of a First Lady, President Trump’s family is a disaster compared to Barack Obama, Michele, Sasha and Malia.
Full of models, divorces, reality TV stars, family law suits and kids being cut off from medical care, the Trump Family is a reality TV show on its own.
His father, his grandfather, and the father of his grandfather? Germans. Donald Trump’s grandfather Fredrick Drumpf (later changed to Trump) emigrated from Germany in 1885.
His first marriage
Married Czech model-Ivana Trump.
They have three children: Donald Junior (1977), Ivanka Trump (1981) and Eric Trump (1984).
This marriage ended in a divorce in 1990 over an affair that Trump had.
Second marriage
Married Maria Maples in 1993.
They have one daughter Tiffany.
The Couple divorced in 1999.
Third marriage
Married Melania Knauss a Slovene model in 2005.
They have a son, Barron Trump.
How the kids have fared
Donald Junior is a businessman and was once in reality TV. Married a model with whom they have 5 children. He is currently a Trustee at The Trump Organization.
Ivanka Trump is model who was also once in reality TV. She is a former executive at The Trump Organization. Currently, she is seen as the quasi American First Lady – she has actually began performing some of the roles of the First Lady.
Her husband Jared Kushner is a trusted Trump advisor and was recently named Senior Advisor to the President. He was very instrumental in Trump’s victory.
Eric Trump is a Trustee at The Trump Organization and is married to TV producer. He is an avid hunter who regularly takes hunting trips to Africa. He is the founder of the Eric Trump Foundation.
All the three children were named by Trump as part of the team to help him pick his transition team.
Tiffany Trump is a singer and model.
Barron Trump is currently still in school.
The law suits
Donald Trump has had publicized tiffs with family members. He is accused of convincing his sick father to hand less inheritance to his brother. He once cut off a sick-niece from a medical scheme that he was in charge of. The court had to force him to re-instate the care.
He sued his first wife in 1992 for violating a gag clause in their divorce when she published a book about their life together.
Fred Trump’s (Donald Trump’s father) middle name is Christ. And he was arrested in 1927 on suspicion of being a Ku Klux Klan (KKK) member.
