Take me to The Hague, Duale dares Kalonzo – VIDEO
Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Aden Duale, on Monday dared Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka to make good his threat of reporting him to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Mr Musyoka threatened to write to ICC over alleged incitement remarks made by the Garissa Township MP.
An audio recording, which is yet to be authenticated by experts, has been attributed to the legislator. The speaker in the audio is heard inciting youths to attack the Kamba in Garissa in the upcoming elections.
Mr Duale has vehemently distanced himself from the audio clip which was said to have been recorded when he addressed a meeting.
“I have asked the DCI to investigate this matter because those responsible for the audio clip are the same people who coached ICC witnesses. The other day Kalonzo (Musyoka) said Duale should be taken to ICC. Its the same story of coached witnesses and coached clips,” said Mr Duale.
Mr Duale added that the government is promoting cohesiveness urging politicians to allow the relevant agencies to investigate the matter.
“I wish to inform Kalonzo that I’ve been to the ICC on 39 occasions. I know ICC in and out, I know the lawyers I know the prosecutors so you (Kalonzo) should stop threatening us with ICC. We will never be intimidated,” Duale further said.
On Friday, Mr Duale recorded a statement at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi where he was grilled for two hours by detectives over the audio.
