Suspected phone thief lynched in Tena estate
A suspected thief was on Tuesday night lynched in Tena estate. The victim, who looked like a high school student, was beaten senseless and displayed to the public before being lynched.
According to eye witnesses, the suspect snatched a mobile phone from a woman near Sango stage in Umoja Innercore and attempted to get away on a bicycle, but the woman screamed for help.
Boda boda operators nearby responded to the woman’s distress call and caught up with the suspect whom they beat up and paraded before lynching. The police later came and took away the victim’s charred remains.
Area residents at the scene complained of rising cases of muggings and petty thefts, especially in the morning and late in the evening. Often the thugs flee towards Kayole.
