The bullet was removed after a three-hour intricate operation. The team of experts have said the one -and-a-half year old boy is stable and out of danger.

“Baby Osinya, who had a bullet lodged in his head in the Likoni Church Shooting on 23 March, has been operated on and the bullet was removed,” the government announced on the Disaster Operations twitter handle.

The announcement came as a shocker since Neurosurgeon Samuel Njiru, one of the 12 experts attending to the baby, had said they will announce the day for the operation on Tuesday.

Baby Osinya was shot in the head when gunmen opened fire on worshippers at the Joy in Jesus Church in Likoni, Mombasa.

The same bullet killed his mother, Veronica, who died while shielding Satrin from the hooded attackers who are yet to be apprehended.
