By ISAAC SWILA September 6th, 2015 1 min read

Zambia rallied from a goal down to beat Kenya 2-1 in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Harambee Stars took a 13th minute lead through Michael Olunga toe-poke after being put through by Dennis Odhiambo.

But the Zambians got back in the game at the half hour mark through Winstone Kalengo’s rocket of a shot from inside the box.

Twelve minutes later, Kalengo fed strike partner Collins Mbesuma with a lovely pass which the latter finished with a low shot at Arnold Origi’s near right post.

GAME PLAN

After the interval, coach Bobby Williamson brought in Allan Wanga and Johanna Omollo for Dennis Oliech and Collins Okoth respectively but to no avail.

Congo, who crushed Guinea Bissau 4-2 on Saturday now top Group E with 4 points same as second-placed Zambia. Kenya and Bissau are third and fourth with a point each.

Stars next match in the campaign will be away to Guinea Bissau in March 2016.

“Sometimes, its a matter of changing positions to win. We now need to go back to the drawing board and correct our mistakes. They (Zambia) came with a game plan that worked,” Harambee Stars deputy coach Musa Otieno said after the match.
