Starehe suspends principal in wake of poor results

Starehe Boys Centre sent principal Paul Mugo on forced leave on Wednesday morning in the wake of poor KCSE results.

The school’s management committee also sent two administrators on forced leave. They are the accounts officer and the  executive assistant to the director.

Deputy principal Peter Ndungu will be  in charge of the institution in the interim as the school scouts for a new head.

The announcement was made by the school’s executive director Matthew Kithyaka at a press briefing held at the school on Wednesday.

The school dropped from position 12 in the 2012 KCSE to position 17 nationally in last year’s exam with a mean grade of 74.757, which translates to a B+.

Principal Paul Mugo had blamed the 2012, 2013 teachers’ strikes for the school’s poor results. He argued that the two strikes interfered with the momentum of form three and form four students.
