Wanga thrilled by Schalke experience

Harambee Stars striker Allan Wanga took to social media to express his delight after turning out for his Sudanese club El Merreikh in a high profile friendly match against German club Schalke 04.

The match that was played at the Aspire Academy on Thursday evening ended in a 2-2 draw with Wanga, playing the entire game.

“We have played out a 2-2 draw with the Schalke 04 first team. Great exposure and great game. Sky is the limit,” the forward posted on his Facebook page.

El Merreikh took the lead in this match from the penalty spot through Giefer Bakri, but the German team responded through Dutch International striker Jan Klaas Huntelaar.

Schalke then took the lead with 18 minutes remaining, but the East and Central African champions rallied back to cancel the deficit through Marhoum Mohammed.

Wanga, who is considered one of the the best centre forwards in Kenya, could be in line to lead Harambee Stars’ strike force when the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers begin later this year
