Ulinzi disarmed in ill-tempered match
Centre referee James Kagera flashed three red cards in a tension-filled match as hosts Muhoroni Youth upset Ulinzi Stars 2-1 in a fiercely fought Kenyan Premier League match in Muhoroni on Sunday.
Muhoroni were reduced to 10 men, while Ulinzi ended the game with nine players following the sending off of Oliver Ruto and Oscar Wamalwa.
Ruto was sent toe an early shower with nine minutes left for a second bookable offence while Wamalwa and Muhoroni’s Wycliffe Nyangechi got their matching orders for a scuffle.
Mike Khaduli gave Muhoroni the lead in the third minute but this was cancelled out by John Makwata in the 88th minute. However, a late striker by burly forward Wycliffe Ochomo sealed victory for the sugar millers.
At the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, Sofapaka returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over hosts Bandari.
Former Sofapaka man Musa Mudde fired Bandari ahead in the 38th minute with a fierce drive from a Morris Odipo deflected pass but Sofapaka rallied from the behind equalising in the 49th minute through Fwadi Ndayisenga before Herman Waswa ensured maximum points with the second goal.

The outcome leaves Ulinzi still on second place with 37 points while Sofapaka moved one place up to third on 36 points.
At the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Nairobi City Stars surrendered a 1-0 lead to share the spoils with Chemelil Sugar.
Striker Robert Ndungu scored his second successive match in the fifth minute but Daniel Murage struck Chemelil’s equaliser at the quarter hour mark.
At the Nairobi City Stadium, KCB and Mathare United cancelled each other in a lively match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Striker Paul Kiongera bagged a brace for the bankers, his first a well taken volley from 20 yard and the second from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
But it was Mathare who took the lead in the 25th minute through Daniel Mwaura. Noah Abich was Mathare’s other goal scorer with a delicately lobbed free kick in the 49th minute from outside the 18-yard box.
“We created so many scoring chances and I think it’s a match we should have won. But all said, I’m satisfied with the outcome,” KCB coach Rishadi Shedu said.
