Treu makes changes ahead of Port Elizabeth Sevens
Kenya Sevens head coach Paul Treu has made three changes to the Kenya Sevens squad for the Port Elizabeth Sevens in South Africa this weekend.
Injuries have forced Michael Wanjala and Phillip Wamae out of the squad, while Patrice Agunda will be sitting his end of year examinations at the University of Nairobi.
Wanjala’s place will be taken by Strathmore Leo’s flyer Billy Odhiambo as Western Bulls’ Davis Chenge and Mwamba’s Dan Sikuta will replace Wamae and Agunda.
Treu will seek to bite the hand that used to feed him when Kenya take on South Africa in pool B, which also has Spain and Canada.
Blitzbokke got the better of Kenya at the Dubai Sevens when the two sides met, emerging 21-12 winners despite Kenya’s dominance in the second half.
Kenya is now ranked sixth on the series log with 22 points. Their plate semifinals exit saw them pick up 10 points, two less than they managed in Gold Coast.
After Port Elizabeth the series takes a break till February when the Wellington Sevens in New Zealand and Las Vegas Sevens in the United States will be held.
